“I think that the best opportunities for me have always come through friendship,” says Robin Dann, vocalist and songwriter in the Toronto-based alt-pop outfit Bernice, over coffee in the Chinatown location of Sam James Coffee Bar. “Rarely is it ever just a cold call from some producer saying, ‘I heard you guys on this thing and I want to hire you.’ You make a connection and it sticks.”
